Students will interview a classmate that they do not know very well outside of the computer lab. Then they will create a Power Point slide that contains 5 questions and answers that are formated. They will insert a title and a picture of the person they interviewd.
Treasure Hunt in Google Docs (September)
Students will be introduced to Google Docs. They will use their asfg.edu.mx Google account to login into their Google Docs. They then will be using a Google document to complete an online treasure hunt. This treasure hunt will help students practice online research skills.
Online Maps (October)
Students will learn how to use online maps to get information that they need. They will learn how to find locations as well as find driving distances between different cities.
Researching on the Computer (November)
Students will learn how to summarize the information that they find on the internet. They will also learn how to cite photos that they find online as well as find photos that are marked for re-use. During this topic, copyright will be discussed with students.
City Report from their Folklorama Country (December)
Students will create a Google presentation (similar to Power Point). In this project they will learn how to create slides, add photos and text, as well as cite the photos that they use.
Graphing Project in Google Docs (January)
Students will review how to create graphs using data. They will learn how to find the sum, mean, and average using formulas. Students will also leanr how to use conditional formating to enhance their data prestentation. They will use Google spreadsheet (similar to Excel).
Photo Editing (February)
Using a basic photo editor, students will learn how to insert a picture on top of another photo. Students will learn basic photo editor tools to help the modify their picture.
World Maths Day (February-March)
World Maths Day is a world-wide online math competition. Students from many different countries compete against children their same age. The focus is on learning math facts and recalling them very quickly. Here at ASFG, students take part in the practice period leading up to the day. Then on World Maths Day, classes come to the computer lab for 20 minutes to compete. Students can access this game from home as well during late February to early March.
Folklorama Country Research (March)
Students will research information about their country using the internet. Students will use search engines as well as online encyclopedias.
Folklorama Project (April-May)
Students will create a project showing what they have learned in Google Docs this year as well as what they have learned in their Folklorama studies in their home room class. Students will demonstrate their leanring by meeting a specific checklist.
