Draw a Healthy Choice (October)
Students will draw a picture of a healthy choice or other theme they are learning in their classroom. Students learn that work can be started and then saved to be retreived at a later time. Students will save and print their projects with the help of a teacher.
Type Your Name (January)
Students will type their name in a word processing program. Students will learn how to change the size and the color of their text. Students will learn how to use special keys: space bar, backspace, enter, and shift to make a capital letter.
Tangram Story (January)
Students will help create a class book in Power Point. Each child will use a slide in Power Point that has tangram shapes. They will move and rotate the shapes to create an animal. They will also write a sentence about what their animal is doing. All the slides will be combined to create a class book for students to enjoy.
I Spy Project (February)
Students will select a background in the drawing program to use for hiding objects. Students will use the stamp tool to insert 5 objects to hide. They will try to think about ways to better hide the objects based on size and shape. Students will save and print their work. In their English class, students will add sentences to go with their "I Spy" project.
World Maths Day (February-March)
World Maths Day is a world-wide online math competition. Students from many different countries compete against children their same age. The focus is on learning math facts and recalling them very quickly. Here at ASFG, students take part in the practice period leading up to the day. Then on World Maths Day, classes come to the computer lab for 20 minutes to compete. Students can access this game from home as well during late February to early March.
Realistic Picture (March)
Students will open a document with a background of a nature scene. Students will use the sticker tool to add pictures to the background. Students will need to add pictures of things that would be found int the scene. Students will learn to change the size of the objects as well as delete those they don't want. Students will search through the sticker directory to find good items for their picture.
Power Point Presentation (April-May)
Students will create a Power Point presentation that contains 6 slides with 1 picture and at least 1 sentence. Students will create their presentation on a theme that their class is studying. These presentations will then be presented to the parents.
